Background of Kid Friendly No Egg Cake Brownies

When I think about this recipe, I remember fun times in my kitchen with my kids and their friends!  This recipe allows kids to have fun and create a wonderful treat.  It is an “old fashioned” recipe often called Poor Man Cake. I have taken the liberty of modifying the recipe for easier use, plus adding EASY CHOCOLATE FROSTING to finish it off perfectly.

One of the best parts of this recipe is that you probably have all or most of the ingredients already in your pantry.  Also it doesn’t require eggs.

At first you get all the ingredients out on the counter, in the order listed above, then the fun begins.  You place the ingredients one at time in the baking pan as noted in the recipe.  You let your little ones mix up ingredients right in the baking pan.  The perfect situation:  the kids can make a mess and you don’t even need to use a mixing bowl.

And then it becomes the coolest science experiment ever.  After you make the holes in the mixture and add the 3 ingredients: vanilla, vinegar and melted shortening, the experiment and fun begins. The mixture seems to come alive with foaming action.

Then you add the water and mix everything together even more. So much fun and all in the baking pan.

After the brownies come out of the oven, you can pore on the EASY CHOCOLATE FROSTING to complete the dessert.  If you want to have even more fun, be creative and decorate the frosting with whatever candy or treats you enjoy. This recipe lends itself to change depending on the holiday or event.  Whether celebrating a birthday, the Fourth of July, or Halloween, this recipe can be the basis for alot of fun!
