Tips & Tricks for perfecting Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies
The secret ingredient in this cookie recipe is the pudding mix
Try a different pudding mix for different flavor combinations. For example, give butterscotch a try, or chocolate, or pistachio, or your favorite pudding
If you like some different types of chips, give it a try! Every season you will see new varieties of chips like, white chocolate, butterscotch, mint chocolate chips, sprinkles, mini chips, dark chocolate chips, etc
Walnuts or pecans can add a bit of crunchy delight to these chocolate chip cookies. I suggest you use only 1/2 cup of finely chopped nuts mixed gently into dough batter prior to adding the chocolate chips
Consider using parchment paper for this recipe. It really makes is easier for clean up because the cookies spread out so much, plus whenever you add chocolate chips it makes clean up a bit more difficult
These cookies spread out while baking, make sure you spread them enough apart on the baking sheet
By not putting the chocolate chips in the batter (but placing them on top of cookie) you minimize the chance of cookies sticking to baking sheet
Also, if you do not put the chocolate chips in the batter, you can change it up and put sprinkles on top of cookies versus chips. This recipe makes a great sugar cookie that can be decorated for the various holidays, Halloween, Christmas, Valentines Day, etc
Background of Soft Chocolate Chips Cookies
There are so many versions of chocolate chip cookies you can make. It is often hard to choose. Over the years I have made many different kinds. Most will become crispy or hard after a few days – if they last that long. This recipe however is my all time favorite.
Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies stay yummy and soft for many days! The pudding mix adds that extra little bit of flavor plus keeps the cookies moist and soft. Pudding adds the extra special taste to this yummy cookie. This is the perfect cookie that provides a variety of options for bakers.
Having the option of putting the chocolate chips on top of the cookie also gives you option to make some cookies without chips, that the non-chocolate lovers will also enjoy. Make the dough the same without the chocolate chips and just add your favorite colored sugar or sprinkles on top before baking – and now you have the perfect soft sugar cookie. Two recipes in one!!!
