Tips & Tricks for Perfecting Easy Sugar Cookies

I prefer to use butter, but you can also use margarine.

Any type of cooking oil will work for this recipe.  I usually used olive oil since I always have some in my pantry.  Canola oil or another type of vegetable oil will also work great.

Do not over mix the cookie dough.  Mix just enough to get the ingredients all together.

You can use a teaspoon to drop the cookie dough on the cookie sheet.  Consider rounding off the cookie dough with your hands to make rounder cookies.

These cookies are perfect for decorating using sprinkles or small candies of the season.  For example, orange sugar for Halloween, pink sugar for Valentines Day, yellow sugar for Easter, and of course, red and green sugar for Christmas.

Use different flavorings to change to taste of these cookies.  Substitute almond flavoring for vanilla extract to slightly change the flavor of these cookie favorites.

This basic sugar cookie recipe can also be used to make a simple snickerdoodle cookie recipe.  Just use cinnamon sugar as a sprinkled topping.
