Tips & Tricks for perfecting BBQ Brisket Kansas City Style

This recipe can be modified based on the ingredients you prefer, or just what you have in your pantry.  However I feel it is important to use the liquid smoke, it gives the meat a more BBQ flavor.  Liquid smoke is available in the grocery store near the bbq sauces or marinades.

The big trick to this recipe is roasting the meat for 5 hours in the oven.  It makes the meat very tender and delicious!  It is so easy put it all together and put it in the oven and just forget about it for 5 hours.

I often substitute organic sugar or sugar in the raw for brown sugar in this recipe.  It works out just as well!

This is best baked in a pan with sides, because it can leak out of the foil.  I prefer using heavy duty foil and  a 16×12 size pan, but you can substitute a 13×9 or similar type roasting pan.

Once the meat is tender and cooking complete remember to let it set for 15 minutes before you slice it.  It is really tempting to cut it early, but resist.

We like to serve this on a bun with pickles and BBQ sauce.  It is the ideal party or picnic food!

Have fun with this recipe and make it your new family tradition!

Background of BBQ Brisket Kansas City Style

If you live in Kansas City, you know that BBQ is a way of life. It is everywhere and the competition to create the best BBQ sauce or Brisket is intense,  There are many restaurants in the city that specialize in different varieties of BBQ and specifically brisket.  But sometimes you just want brisket that is BBQ flavored but not smoked.

A brisket that is warm from the oven has that homemade touch.  It is different from the restaurants but is so yummy and comforting.  It is tender and makes the best meals or sandwiches ever.

As a Kansas City transplant, I thought BBQ was about ribs.  But I was soooo wrong.  In Kansas City it is about the brisket.  It took me a long time to perfect a tasty brisket recipe I could make at home.  It is always a big hit at holiday parties and everyone wants seconds!!!

BBQ brisket is best served with a salad or raw cut up veggies, BBQ beans, mashed potatoes or chips.  It is the perfect food for a game day event, a family birthday, and at my house even Christmas!!!

So take a chance and let this BBQ BRISKET Kansas City style become your new family favorite!
